Police ID body found in Quinton flat fire
POLICE today named the man whose burned body was found inside a fire-ravaged house in Birmingham as occupier Mark Clarkson.
The remains were discovered by firefighters tackling the fire which ripped through a semi-detached house in Copperbeech Close, Quinton, on Saturday afternoon.
A source said he had been tied up and set alight.
He was identified through his fingerprints. A post-mortem examination was carried out by a Home Office pathologist on Monday but results have not yet been made public.
Detectives are now trying to track his movements and believe Mr Clarkson was last seen at about 3pm on Friday visiting nearby shops. Emergency services were called to his home at 2.30pm on Saturday after a blaze was discovered.
Detectives with the Major Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen Mr Clarkson after the last sighting or any suspicious activity at his home on Saturday.
