Tipton family's grief over baby fall death
THE father of a baby who fell to his death from a first-floor window on Mother’s Day has spoken of his family’s grief.
Timothy Withers said he and his wife Jane were devastated by the loss of their 11-month-old son, Cy, at home in West Road, Tipton.
Black Country coroner Robin Balmain yesterday said the family was blameless for the accidental death, which he described as “every parent’s worst nightmare”.
The youngster suffered traumatic brain injuries in the fall and died two days later in Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Mr Withers, who has four other children with his wife, said today the family was very safety-conscious.
“It’s devastating but we are trying to limit the damage to our children,” he said. “That is our main concern.
“We can’t allow it to bring us down, because of the other kids.
“It’s hard for all the children. They are really sad and they miss him terribly.
