Yardley Wood love rival murder trial: Neighbours tell of fight in street
RESIDENTS spoke of how they watched the fight unfold between two love rivals in a quiet Solihull street.
Neighbours heard screams and looked out on to Berkeley Road in Shirley where they saw two women pulling hair and “in a tussle”, Warwick Crown Court heard.
The court heard one of the pair was seen leaving the scene before victim Emma Bradshaw collapsed in a blood-soaked dressing gown clutching a knife and later died in hospital.
The prosecution claim that Karla Biddle had brought the knife to the scene to confront 30-year-old Miss Bradshaw over Ashley Watson, who they were both in a relationship with. The car parts consultant had earlier told the jury that he had deceived the pair because he could not bear to break up with either.
Biddle, aged 32, of Aldbury Road, Yardley Wood, denies murder on May 14 last year.
Dawn Adams, who lives next door to Mr Watson, aged 32, said she dashed to a front window after hearing a scream at about 8am.
“I could see two women fighting out the front of my neighbour’s house,” she said. “They were just pushing each other and pulling hair, it did not seem a very physical fight. I heard another scream and the person who was facing me turned and walked away.”
Mrs Adams said that one of the women, wearing a dressing gown, staggered towards the house before turning and “staggering” back down the drive where she collapsed with a knife in her hand.
