Yardley Wood love rival murder trial: Ex-girlfriend had cut hand
A JILTED ex-girlfriend told police medics that injuries to her hands were caused by cooking accidents and not during a fatal fight with her love rival, a court heard.
Karla Biddle, of Aldbury Road, Yardley Wood, was arrested after 30-year-old Emma Bradshaw died from stab wounds sustained at the home of Ashley Watson – who had been in relationships with both women.
At Warwick Crown Court, PC Karole Vickers, of Solihull Police Station evidence review team, said he had spoken to Karla Biddle, whose right middle finger was bandaged, in the custody block on May 14 last year.
He said: “I asked what she had done and she told me she had burnt it while cooking fish and chips. She stated she had picked at the blister, making it bleed.
“The doctor saw there was a fresh cut to the underside of the right middle finger. I am a qualified first aider and I know the difference between a blister and a cut. She had a laceration.”
PC Vickers also quizzed Biddle about other injuries.
She added: “She had some sterile strips on her left hand. A doctor asked her to remove them and there was a one-and-a-half inch laceration. She stated she had cut herself with a knife while cutting a bagel at about 8.20am that morning.”
