Halesowen man raided parents safe

A HALESOWEN man who smashed his way into his parents’ bedroom with a sledgehammer before stealing the family safe has been spared further time behind bars.

Darren Cook, 25, of Hamilton Avenue, took £80,000 worth of bonds which he burned, but sold £3,000 worth of jewellery to buy drink and drugs.

Cook admitted burglary and was given eight months’ jail suspended for two years and told to undergo drug rehabilation.
