Quinton fire death: Second man appears in court

A second man appeared in court today charged with the murder of a 48-year-old found tied up in a burning house.

Divorcee Mark Clarkson was discovered by firefighters as they battled a blaze at his home in Quinton, Birmingham, on March 28.

Paul Nelson, 37, of Gibbins Road in Selly Oak, Birmingham, appeared before city magistrates today charged with murder.

Dressed in a black T-shirt, Nelson confirmed his name and address by nodding his head.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on April 14.

Yesterday, 18-year-old Reece Mason, of Court Oak Road, Harborne, Birmingham, was also remanded in custody on the same charge to appear alongside Nelson on April 14.
