Yardley Wood woman denies deliberately killing love rival
A woman accused of murdering her love rival told a court today she never meant to hurt her.
Karla Biddle, 32, is accused of stabbing Emma Bradshaw to death last May.
Biddle's long-term partner Ashley Watson was sleeping with both women but could not bring himself to tell either the truth, a jury at Warwick Crown Court has heard.
Today Biddle, of Aldbury Road, Yardley Wood, Birmingham, wept as she told the jury she went to Mr Watson's house on May 14 last year to confront 30-year-old Miss Bradshaw but not to hurt her.
She said she asked her rival if she could talk but a scuffle ensued after Miss Bradshaw came at her with a knife.
When asked by defence barrister Christopher Hotten QC: "At any stage in what took place did you deliberately stab her with the knife?", she replied "no".
When he asked: "Did you intend to kill her?", she sobbed, "no".
The court heard Biddle, who worked in human resources, and car parts consultant Mr Watson met at school and had been a couple since around 1993 when they left.
