Man dies in early-morning smash on M6 motorway

ONE man died and three people were injured after a motorway accident on the southbound M6 between junctions 16 and 15 of the motorway yesterday.

A lorry jack-knifed and crashed into a car and camper van at around 3am.

Three ambulance crews, an incident support officer, a community paramedic officer and four doctors dealt with the injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A male passenger in the car was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, the driver of the camper van, a man in his 40s, had minor injuries.

“A woman in her 20s, a passenger in the camper, had head, chest, pelvic and limb injuries.”

All three were taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
