Handsworth shooting: Police 'open minded' over motive

Specially-trained police family liaison officers were today supporting Mr Grant’s mother and she was due to formally identify his body. A post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday.
The results have not yet been released but early indications are that the man died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the chest. Bullet fragments found at the scene have been sent to specialists at the Birmingham National Ballistics Intelligence Service firearm forensics lab for analysis.
Officers returned to the scene yesterday to conduct further fingertip searches, and look for footage from CCTV cameras which may have captured crucial clues to the incident.
“Detectives are trawling for vital clues after a man was shot dead in a city street on Sunday,” a force spokesman said. “The Major Investigation Unit, the specialist team of detectives who investigate serious crime and murder, has more than 60 detectives and experts working on the case.
“This is very early days in a major investigation and police are keeping an open mind as to the motive.”
