Big night for 13-year-old Solihull violinist

Talented teenager in first full violin recital

A GIFTED 13-year-old from Solihull School who won the 2008 West Midlands Young Musician of the Year award is to give her first full violin recital tomorrow.

Jacqui Martens will perform popular works by Bach, Bartok, Beethoven, Brahms, Handel and Kreisler to piano accompaniment in Bushell Hall at the Warwick Road school. The youngster gained a Grade 8 with distinction – just one level below a teaching diploma – in violin at the age of only 11, and has won a string of awards at music festivals throughout the Midlands. Free tickets for the recital, which starts at 7.30pm, are available by calling 0121 705 0958.
