Bar Room Bar at Mailbox up for sale as chain collapses
Upmarket bar chain Bar Room Bar has collapsed, two years after it was set up in a high-profile £20 million deal by a pair of Birmingham entrepreneurs.
Three of the firm’s high-end bars have been closed with the loss of 50 jobs while the flagship site in the Mailbox is one of ten that have been put up for sale.
The ten bars are being run as normal while administrators at Zolfo Cooper – formerly Kroll Corporate Advisory & Restructuring – look for a buyer.
Nick Cropper, Ryan Grant and Anne O’Keefe of Zolfo Cooper were named as joint administrators of Bar Room Bar yesterday, and said the company had to be taken into administration because of on-going cashflow difficulties. Mr Cropper said: “Bar Room Bar is a recognised brand with a network of bars across the UK. It has entered administration as a result of difficult market conditions but continues to trade on a business-as-usual basis whilst a buyer is sought.
“We are grateful in advance for everyone’s support and patience during the administration process and are confident that there will be interest from potential buyers to secure the future of this business. We will need the support of all parties to achieve this.”
Bar Room Bar, which has its head office on Coleshill Road in Solihull, has 250 staff working on its national chain of bars.
