Robbers strike victim on head with hammer

A MAN was struck over the head with a hammer by a gang of robbers who then ran off with the bag of cash he carried.

The 27-year-old had been about to deposit the money when he was rushed by three or four men, who wore white balaclavas, outside Barclays Bank, in Stratford Road, Sparkhill. They are thought to have driven away in a light blue car – possibly a Toyota Avensis. Police urge witnesses to the robbery, which happened on April 22, to contact them on 0845 113 5000.
