Birmingham sisters murder case: Jury sworn in

A jury was sworn in today to try a man accused of murdering two Algerian-born sisters found stabbed at their city centre flat.

Mohammed Ali is formally accused of murdering Yasmine Larbi-Cherif, 22, and her 19-year-old sister Sabrina in Birmingham on a day between September 12 and 15 last year.

The 30-year-old defendant, of Old Snow Hill, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of provocation during a hearing in March, but denied two counts of murder.

Prosecution QC David Crigman is expected to open the case against Ali this afternoon at the city's Crown Court.
