Yasmine and Sabrina Larbi-Cherif murder case: Victim seemed 'unhappy'
The court heard that the family, who moved to the UK from Algeria in 1998, is Muslim but not religious and do not attend mosques.
The sisters were close to their family and would be in contact with their parents, who live in Wembley, north London, or their three brothers, at least once a day.
Sabrina moved up to live with her sister only a few weeks before they were both killed, the jury was told.
In his statement, Mr Larbi-Cherif said he had a close relationship with his sisters, particularly Sabrina who he used to go to choir practice with.
He said she liked music, played the guitar and the drums and liked football.
"She is a girl who jokes a lot," he added.
Ali, of Old Snow Hill, Birmingham, was arrested in Dover on September 16 - two days after being seen leaving the flat.
