Deaf model in visit to Hodge Hill school

A ROLE model for hearing-impaired people visited a Birmingham special school to inspire deaf children to follow their dreams.

Kellie Moody, a former Miss Deaf UK and semi-finalist on BBC Three’s Britain’s Missing Top Model show, was at Braidwood School, in Hodge Hill.

The visit formed part of Deaf Awareness Week, which has a theme of Look At Me.

It also sparks the beginning of an education campaign by Siemens Hearing Instruments to raise deaf awareness in schools and overcome negative attitudes towards hearing problems.

Kellie, 25, who is the face of Siemens, has been deaf since birth but followed her dream to become a model. The 5ft 7in beauty, from Leicester, works as a make-up artist.

Kellie said: “It’s great to show the pupils that being deaf doesn’t need to hold you back from making your dreams happen.”
