Devoted Birmingham mum died in motorway crash after family holiday
A WOMAN killed in a motorway accident was a devoted mum from Birmingham who was returning home with her family after treating them to a holiday, it was revealed today.
Nursery nurse Nazma Shaheen, aged 31, of Hickman Road, Sparkbrook, died when the family’s Toyota people carrier overturned on the M5 in Gloucestershire, as they returned from Cornwall.
Her two sons Qasim, aged eight and Salahuddin, three, both suffered broken legs, while her six-year-old daughter Sumaiyyah suffered minor injuries. Nazma’s husband Umar broke his arm in two places, shattered his wrist, fractured a bone in his neck and suffered a head injury. He is in Selly Oak Hospital.
The 29-year-old, who works for Business Post, was unable to make it to his wife’s funeral which was held on Friday. Her body was then flown to her parents’ home in Pakistan.
Umar’s father, Ali Bahadur, aged 59, said: “He is devastated and still can’t talk because he gets emotional.
