A BIRMINGHAM man has been charged with smuggling cocaine after he was allegedly found to have swallowed a kilo of the drug.

Nigerian national Wilson Aghoson, aged 31, was stopped at London Heathrow airport on May 7 after getting off a flight from Nigeria. The UK Border Agency said £40,000-worth of cocaine was inside his body at the time.

Aghoson, a warehouse worker, has been remanded in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates Court until June 23.
