Midland crewman sails into British Naval history
A DUDLEY sailor has taken part in a historic Royal Navy celebration in the heart of London to mark 100 years of Naval Aviation, known as Fly Navy 100.
Scott Sabin, a former pupil of Cradley High School, is part of the crew of HMS Illustrious, the Royal Navy’s Fleet Flagship. Four Merlin helicopters were launched in unison from the ship which is moored at Greenwich, to mark the beginning of the Fly Navy 100 celebrations.
The event was also attended by the Duke of York.
Scott said: “Taking part in the biggest celebration for the Fleet Air Arm was a great honour.”
