Balsall Common GP accused of assaulting son
A prominent Midland GP has been suspended from work and banned from setting foot within his home town of Balsall Common after being arrested for attacking his son.
Dr Syed Alijah and alleged accomplice Mohammed Malik are both accused of beating the doctor’s 35-year-old son Syed Rizvi after forcing their way into the family home in Huddesford Drive, Balsall Common.
The 68-year-old GP’s daughter-in-law Azmat Rizvi was also allegedly attacked by Malik in the assault on April 4.
Alijah, who practises at Foleshill Medical Centre, in Coventry, revealed he is now living on surgery premises in Station Street West, Foleshill, when he appeared before Solihull magistrates yesterday.
The NHS doctor pleaded not guilty at Solihull magistrates court to one charge of common assault by beating against Mr Rizvi, who is a joint director with his father in Foleshill Medical Centre and Alijah Rentals.
Co-defendant Malik, aged 31, of Oliver Street, Coventry, pleaded not guilty to two charges of common assault by beating against Syed and Azmat Rizvi and a further charge of using violence to secure entry into the premises in Balsall Common on April 4 this year. Solihull magistrates released Alijah and Malik on conditional bail until the trial.
But the two defendants were warned they were both banned from entering the leafy district of Balsall Common and from making any contact, whether in person or through phone calls, text or e-mails, to the alleged victims before the trial.
