Police end Midlands train network crime blitz

POLICE patrolling the Midlands train network have pushed crime and anti-social behaviour into the sidings after a week-long blitz.
British Transport Police targeted people trespassing on rail lines and misusing level crossings, as well as those intent on carrying weapons or drugs on the network.
More than 130 offences, including tackling football yobs who had used the network as a battleground, were dealt with by officers during Operation Tranquility II.
Chief Insp Allan Gregory, West Midlands’ sector commander, said: “We are absolutely determined to deal with offenders robustly and we want to work closely with our partners.”
