TV weathergirl Shefali shines for diabetes sufferers

TV WEATHERGIRL Shefali Oza is hoping to give diabetes sufferers a brighter outlook by backing a charity drive to help tackle the disease.

Shefali is calling on fundraisers in the West Midlands to back Diabetes Week – between June 14 and 20 – and help raise funds in schools, workplaces and community groups by setting up events from cake sales to sponsored skydives.

More than 240,000 people in the region suffer with diabetes and another 50,000 do not know they have the condition.

The 41-year-old said: “I have no family history of diabetes and I’m not a sufferer myself but I know of a few, and it’s because their condition was diagnosed early that their lives continue to be fulfilling.”
