Malvern man jailed for life for killing ex-fiancee

A MIDLAND man who shot dead his former fiancee after she dumped him has been jailed for life in America.

Darren John Bridgeman, 37, from Malvern, Worcestershire, shot Tracy Bennawit six times, twice in the head, outside her home in Florida in June, 2006.

He also shot the 33-year-old’s new boyfriend, Adam Strickland, but he survived. The dead woman’s son, then aged 14, fled the scene and was not hurt.

A jury sitting in Sanford, Florida, found Bridgeman guilty of first degree murder and of attempted second degree murder after six hours of deliberations.
