A MAN had a miraculous escape after falling about 60ft from a building in Birmingham city centre.
It was believed shrubbery broke his fall and he ended up in the River Rea in Gibb Street, avoiding any serious injuries.
The incident happened just before 11pm on Saturday but it was not clear from which building the man, said to be in his 20s, fell.
Fire crews from Highgate fire station and the water support unit from Perry Barr fire station used a basket stretcher and ladder to rescue him from the river.
The man, who was not named, was checked for injuries by paramedics before being taken to City Hospital as a precaution.
