Man faces owl-selling charge

A MIDLAND man has been charged with illegally selling owls.

Officers from West Mercia Police, the National Wildlife Crime Unit and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds searched a property in Foley Park, Kidderminster, yesterday.

As well as seizing a number of wild birds, including barn owls, police found a stash of firearms.

The man, who is in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of the prohibited sale and purchase of barn owls and possessing wild birds.

He was released on police bail and is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on June 25.
