Shooting in Aston: Two men injured

TWO teenagers were gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Birmingham.

The men, aged 18 and 19, were blasted in the legs as they walked along a quiet residential street in Aston.

Residents living in Albert Road said they heard a volley of bangs at about 10.30pm yesterday. A source said a vehicle was seen speeding from the area.

A number of armed police response vehicles were dispatched to the area where officers discovered the injured men.

West Midlands Police said the two victims were today recovering in hospital. Their injuries were serious but not thought to be life-threatening.

Detectives from Queens Road CID were hoping to speak with the victims later today.

Police sealed off the junction between Albert Road and Upper Sutton Street following the incident.

A source said: “It appears to have been a drive-by shooting and a car was seen leaving the scene immediately afterwards.”

A woman, who lives in Albert Road, who did not want to be named, said: “We were minding our own business at about 10.30pm last night when we heard a load of bangs go off.
