Swine flu: 1000th case in West Midlands

The number of cases of swine flu in the West Midlands has passed the 1,000 mark, according to latest figures.

The Health Protection Agency said there were another 146 laboratory-confirmed cases in the region for June 21, taking the number of confirmed cases to 1,006.

Nationally, a further 245 people have been confirmed as having the virus, bringing the UK total to 2,506 since April.

All of the newly-diagnosed cases were in England, the agency said.
