Man falls from railway bridge in Tamworth

A MAN was seriously injured after falling 25 feet from a railway bridge.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a disused railway line near Ashby Road, Tamworth, shortly after 2am on Saturday.

A man in his 20s was found with leg and head injuries and immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar before being airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham by Staffordshire Police helicopter.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the victim was two fields from Ashby Road, so the hazardous area response team and a police helicopter were used.
