Perverted former Perry Barr foster parent at large despite admitting to child sex crimes

A former foster parent who sexually abused a young girl on at least seven occasions remains at large despite owning up the the crimes.

He carried out the horrific acts during a four-year period, yet perverted pensioner Ronald Walton, who lives near to several schools, remains at large.

The 74-year-old father of three, of Great Barr, Birmingham, has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

But he was granted bail at a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court last week. He will be sentenced next month.

His vulnerable victim finally plucked up the courage to tell police of her ordeal last year.

There are mounting concerns that she could be one of many who have remained silent.

Police are not currently investigating other cases involving Walton, who used to work at Unigate Dairies in Perry Barr.

But a friend of the victim’s family described Walton as a “serious sexual predator” and raised fears he might have abused other youngsters.

Walton previously fostered children with his wife Joan, who died seven years ago.

The victim’s family friend, who did not wish to be named, said he had long had suspicions about the sick pensioner.

But when confronted on several occasions, Walton denied any wrong-doing.

Yet the friend of the victim said he felt guilty that he did not do enough to stop Walton.

He said: “I told people about him but nobody would listen.

“He’s a serious sexual predator.

“He should not be out on bail, he is a danger to society.

“I hope he gets life, because he deserves to die in prison.

“He wants locking up and the key throwing away.”
