Quinton stabbing victim died after violent row over child's bicycle
A BIRMINGHAM father was stabbed to death when an argument between neighbours over a child’s bicycle exploded into violence, it was claimed today.
The 22-year-old victim, named locally as Chris Cashmore, was believed to have been stabbed three times in the neck during a row in Ely Grove, Quinton.
Ambulance paramedics battled to keep him alive as he was taken to hospital but doctors lost the fight to save him a short time later. Today a man, a teenager and a woman were being questioned by detectives following the incident yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, tribute websites have been set up in Mr Cashmore’s memory.
It is understood that Mr Cashmore, who had a young daughter, had previously taken part in a cage fighting contest, winning his bout.
On social networking site Facebook, friends set up a group called “Rest In Peace Chris Cashmore PURE LEGEND!” where tributes were posted.
The site said: “Another Fallen Angel, Another Victim Of Knife Crime In The Birmingham (Quinton) Area, Another Great Life Taken.”
It described him as “A Great Daddy, A Great Son, A Great Brother, A Great Grandson”.
Mr Cashmore, believed to be from the Four Dwellings area, had been visiting a friend in Ely Grove, a cul-de-sac on the Welsh Farm Road Estate, when the argument began at 2.50pm.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said he witnessed the attack and added: “It was a stupid argument that got out of control.
“People were angry because a child’s bike went into someone’s garden and then it was thrown out.
