Unknowns to open V Festival

ROCK quintet The Last Republic and pop punk act Underline The Sky will open this year’s V Festival after winning an unsigned band competition.

They were plucked from more than 2,600 hopefuls who entered the Road To V contest.

Mentors Just Jack and The Charlatans whittled ten semi-finalists down to the final six, and the winners were chosen by music fans.

The Last Republic, from Swansea, and Underline The Sky, from Ipswich, will appear in the same line-up as Oasis, The Killers and Snow Patrol.
