Lichfield dad murder convictions: Teenager named
POLICE today praised the a Lichfield community for helping bring the killers of Michael Eccles to justice.
Carl Keatley, 20, of Greencroft, Lichfield, and a 16-year-old boy from Lichfield, today named as Jordan Carroll, denied murder but after less than a day of deliberating, a jury found the pair guilty.
Mr Eccles was killed in a savage attack in the Dimbles area of Lichfield in January.
Chief Supt Mick Harrison said after the trial: "We are grateful for the help and support we have received from the local community.
"Their patience as we pieced together the evidence was of valuable assistance to us.
"We hope that they will take reassurance from the fact that the two people responsible for this sickening attack will now be behind bars for a long period of time.
"Lichfield does suffer from anti-social behaviour, but is no worse than anywhere else.
“My neighbourhood officers, together with partners such as the North Lichfield Initiative, have for a long time been at the forefront of improvements which have been supported and welcomed by people of all ages.
"We continue to do a great deal of work with our partners from the council, housing associations and voluntary groups to maintain the successes we have had in tackling issues in the area, such as low-level anti-social behaviour.
“One of our main successes has been in encouraging people to contact us about nuisance behaviour, to enable us to respond and deal with it quickly and effectively. We would urge people to continue calling us and making contact with neighbourhood police officers, helping us to ensure Lichfield remains a safe place to live, work and visit.”
