A SOCIAL club has been ordered to tighten up security after a spate of violent incidents.

Bosses at Lea Hall Sports and Social Club were hauled before a city council licensing committee after police drew up a dossier of failings. The force withdrew its application to revoke the licence from the venue in Kelynmead Road, Lea Hall, but said the managers must improve CCTV and make sure bouncers are on duty at functions. Police were called seven times in a year to deal with assault and violent disorder.

Chairman Roy Smith said 29 functions had been held since the start of May without any incidents.
