Birmingham Balti tribute to Usain Bolt
FIRST there was the Brummie balti, now we have the Birmingham BOLT-I.
It is the spicy dish designed to celebrate the world record-smashing exploits of sprint superstar Usain Bolt.
Midlands sports fans have taken the triple Olympic gold medallist to their hearts.
And on the eve of last weekend’s World Athletics Championships in Berlin it was announced that he will be training in Birmingham ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
To mark the occasion chefs at the Punjab Paradise restaurant in Ladypool Road conjured up the Bolt-i.
The fusion dish combines the best Asian and Caribbean flavours and is topped with green and yellow peppers to reflect the Jamaican team colours.
It also contains a variety of popular Caribbean ingredients, including sweet potato, chicken and peas.
