Smethwick man films UFO encounter on mobile phone
A MIDLAND man had a close encounter of the blurred kind when shooting mobile phone footage of a suspected UFO.
Bobby Sandhu couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw strange orange lights hovering above his head in Smethwick, West Midlands.
The 31 year-old sales consultant captured the moment in fuzzy footage on his phone, but says he still can’t work out what he saw in the sky last Saturday night.
“We were going down to pick up my nephews from their house to stop over at our place,” he told the Sunday Mercury.
“We went out of the house to go and pick up some DVDs, and as we walked back to the car, my wife pointed up into the sky and asked: ‘What’s that?’
“She instantly thought it was a UFO – and she doesn’t even believe in that sort of thing. I just stood still. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
The orange orbs hung in the sky for more than a minute as Mr Sandhu struggled to get hold of a phone with a video camera to tape the incident.
“I tried to be rational and think what else these lights could be,” he said.
“It couldn’t have been a plane because it was too low. It wasn’t a helicopter because it wasn’t making any noise at all, and it was moving too fast to be a hot air balloon or anything like that.
“As I was trying to think what else it could be, it flew over the petrol station at the end of the road and disappeared from sight. I just managed to capture a few seconds of it on the mobile phone before it went out of my view.”
Mr Sandhu and his two young nephews then went into his cousin’s house in Smethwick, but the rest of the family were sceptical about the UFO sighting.
