West Bromwich Albion star Joe Mattock on assault charge
“The assaults were on two men and two women and are alleged to have taken place in the early hours of August 30 in Church Gate, Leicester.
“The 19-year-old entered a police station on Tuesday and was charged early yesterday with three counts of ABH and one of common assault.”
Mattock has been released on police bail and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court later this month.
Mattock made his debut for Leicester aged 16, going on to make more than 60 appearances for the club.
He left the club for the Black Country after handing in a transfer request.
An Albion spokesman said today: “The matter is in the hands of the courts and therefore the club is unable to comment.”
