First look inside new Birmingham O2 Academy venue
LAST-minute preparations are being made at Birmingham’s multi-million pound new music venue before a series of gigs by the cream of the city’s music talent.
The Birmingham Mail caught an exclusive first glimpse inside the stunning new O2 Academy ahead of a week of celebrations.
Workmen are busy applying the finishing touches to the city’s new home for live music.
Also touring the venue was Phil Etheridge, lead singer of The Twang, who will take to the stage in front of more than 3,000 fans on Friday.
The Birmingham-born frontman said he was excited to be one of the first names to headline the £5.5 million city centre project.
“The venue looks amazing,” he said.
“They have obviously put a lot of money and thought into it.
“We’re the Second City and we deserve a great venue like this.
