Camper-van fans gather in Malvern

THE world’s largest gathering of Volkswagen camper-van enthusiasts came together this weekend.

More than 8,000 VW vehicles turned up to this year’s Vanfest at the Three Counties Showground, in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Bands – including The Commitments and The Brian Collins Band – headlined the musical entertainment and more than 250 stalls were set up for campers and visitors.

The popular cooking in a camper contest returned, in which one person, in one hour, has to prepare a three-course meal to serve two people – in their camper-van. The Well Travelled Transporters involved talks from campers who had taken their vans far afield on expeditions around the world.
