Strong support for Birmingham's World Cup bid

Phil Etheridge of The Twang is backing Birminghams bid to be a host city for the 2018 World Cup.

FROM Villa’s derby hero Gabby Agbonlahor and comedian Jasper Carrott to Queen Victoria and even the Iron Man – everyone is getting behind the bid to bring the 2018 football World Cup to Birmingham.

An official Back the Birmingham Bid website was being launched today to support the city’s claim to be included as a host city for the World Cup in just nine years’ time.

It follows last week’s high-profile kick-off for Birmingham’s 2018 bid when Villa and Blues players stood alongside city leaders and famous football fans, including Bluenose Jasper and Villan Phil Etheridge, lead singer of The Twang.

The website features a new interactive element, One Kick for Birmingham, aimed at encouraging the public to put their best feet forward in support of the bid.
