Woman cut free in crash on M42

FIREFIGHTERS had to cut a woman free from her wrecked vehicle following a two-car collision on a Midland motorway.

Crews were called to the collision on the southbound carriageway of the M42, between Junctions 1 and 2, just after 2pm yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the woman was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital where she was treated for whiplash injuries.

A man in the second vehicle was shocked but unhurt.

The accident resulted in major congestion in the area, with thousands of drivers caught up in tailbacks.
