Blaze at Kingstanding flat suspected to be former cannabis factory

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a city flat suspected to be a former cannabis factory.

Crews were called out to the address above a fish and chip shop, in Kingstanding Road, at 8.40pm on Thursday.

They said the fire was caused by a fallen lamp and caused heat and smoke damage to the flat.

A police spokeswoman said: “The address is suspected to have been used in the past to grow cannabis plants. No plants were recovered and inquiries are continuing.”
