Liam Byrne MP to run Birmingham half marathon

Labour MP for Hodge Hill, Liam Byrne, will be running the Birmingham half-marathon next month.

The politician will be running the race on October 11 in aid of Marie Curie and the West Midlands Police Benevolence Fund.

He said: "Like millions of people, I once lost someone I loved to cancer. My mum, Ruth Byrne, was just 52 when she died of pancreatic cancer.

"In that terrible time for our family, Marie Curie made the world of difference. The little things. The care. The thought.

"I will also be running in aid of the West Midlands Police Benevolence Fund to say thank you for the great work they have done across the West Midlands but in particular in my constituency of Hodge Hill where crime just keeps falling, by 13% two years in a row."
