Mum’s quick action stops blaze in Wednesbury

A MOTHER’S quick-thinking prevented a fire breaking out after her daughter knocked nail varnish remover over a candle.
Two fire crews from West Bromwich and one from Dudley were called out to the incident in Charlotte Road, Wednesbury, yesterday at just after 8pm.
Watch commander Phil Richards said: “The teenage daughter had been taking nail varnish off her toes when the recliner chair she was in flipped up and knocked the varnish over a candle and then flashed up over the television.
“The smoke alarm went off and the mother put the fire out straight away, so we were called out as a safety precaution.”
