Young fundraiser Harry Moseley to meet Prime Minister Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street

HARRY Moseley’s amazing charity quest has touched the hearts of thousands of people – and now he is heading for Downing Street after being named one of Britian’s kindest kids.
The nine-year-old from Sheldon smashed through the £10,000 fund-raising barrier this month by selling thousands of coloured bracelets.
Brave Harry was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour two years ago and began the enterprise in honour of a fellow sufferer after the pair struck up a friendship in hospital.
His bracelets are now being sold in 30 shops across the West Midlands and he has attracted funding from some of the region’s top business leaders after impressing them with his acumen. He has recruited hundreds of schoolchildren to help him keep up with demand.
Next Wednesday will see Harry travel to Downing Street to meet Prime Minister Gordon Brown for a reception. He will be joined by four other nominees in the Five News Britain’s Kindest Kids competition.
Five News anchor Natasha Kaplinsky said: “This is a really touching story.
“Harry’s fund-raising for his friend in hospital reminds us of how friendship can influence people to do brilliant things.”
Harry was inspired after meeting businessman Robert Harley while they were being treated together earlier this year. He set about raising money in honour of Mr Harley for research into treating brain tumours.
The youngster’s resolve was strengthened when, four weeks into his campaign, his 55-year-old friend died of cancer.
Harry’s mum Georgina said: “I nominated him, not thinking anything of it and I’m really pleased he has been shortlisted.
“He was quite overwhelmed at first but he is really looking forward to the Prime Minister wearing one of his bracelets.”
The winner will be announced live on Five News on Wednesday October 14 and will receive £1,000 to give to charity and £1,000 pocket money.
