UNDER-fire Birmingham social services bosses today insisted they will get care for children in the city right.

They laid their cards on the table after being challenged by the Birmingham Mail yesterday to allow readers to scrutinise their plans.

Tony Howell, Colin Tucker and Coun Les Lawrence pledged to be “absolutely relentless” in improving services.

They spoke as Dr Ray Jones, one of the UK’s leading social work experts, called on everyone to support front-line social workers.

He added: “Everybody in Birmingham has a responsibility for caring and protecting children in their community.”
