Drugs factory found in city council house
POLICE raided a Birmingham council house and discovered a cannabis factory behind a false wall, a court heard.
Judie Williams, aged 36, admitted producing cannabis and was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment suspended for two years. Jason Pegg, prosecuting at Birmingham Crown Court, said officers who swooped at Williams’s home in Felton Croft, Kitts Green, and found the cannabis factory in a rear garage.
He said 37 plants were being grown with the help of a hydroponic system behind a false wall.
If they had grown to full maturity, their total market value would have been around £5,300.
Julia Powell, defending, said Williams was not a commercial dealer.
The council is understood to be currently going through the process of evicting her.
