Overweight dog-faced puffer fish put on diet at Birmingham Sea Life Centre
An overweight dog-faced puffer fish has been put on a strict diet by a sea life centre.
Mutley became so large that he struggled to manoeuvre, Birmingham's National Sea Life Centre said.
He has been on a diet for week, being fed only one small squid a day.
Aquarist Alan Kwon said: "He ate so much his fins were impeded by his bulging body and he couldn't really manoeuvre.
"It's not a lot to eat but it's enough to give him the nutrients he needs and he's already looking better for it after just one week.
"We should be able to increase his quota to two small squid daily within another week or two."
Dog-faced puffer fish, also known as black-spotted puffers, can be found in reefs throughout the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean and are highly poisonous.
