Fire alarm saves Erdington blaze family of five

THREE generations of one family were saved by a smoke alarm after a fire at their home in Erdington.

Five relatives, including a 75-year-old grandmother, escaped unhurt from the first-floor blaze in Brookvale Park Road. The family dampened the blaze before fire crews arrived.
