Man taken to hospital after Wolverhampton house fire
A man has been taken to hospital after a fire in a Wolverhampton house.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Hartley Street at about 4.40am this morning.
Paramedics were sent to the scene after fears were raised that there could have been up to three other casualties caught in the blaze.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A man of approximately 20 woke to find the house on fire. He lives with three other people and was unaware as to whether they were in the property.
"He himself had suffered burns to his hands, singed hair and smoke inhalation.
"He had burns packs applied and was given oxygen by ambulance crews at the scene before being taken to New Cross Hospital.
"Ambulance staff stood by as firefighters tackled the blaze. After the fire was out, firefighters checked the building but thankfully no-one was found inside and the ambulance service was stood down."
