Stephanie Silk of Moseley in Bloom Awards.

THE blooming efforts of a Birmingham suburb’s green-fingered folk will be honoured at a ceremony tomorrow.

A trio of judges from the Moseley In Bloom awards will award everyone who grew and cultivated flowers in Moseley during the summer.

There are ten categories including the Blooming Boozer honour and Most Cultivating Kids, which was introduced to encourage more schools in the area to become involved in improving their environment.

Awards will also be presented for Rosiest Restaurant, Most Floral Faith Group, Most Inspired Institution, Most Blossoming Business, Special Achievement Award and Most Flourishing Front Garden.

Awards’ spokeswoman Stephanie Silk, said: “The Moseley in Bloom Awards are presented every year to give public recognition to people and businesses that are a credit to the community.

“The idea behind it is to get people in the village helping the environment.”

All the winners will receive a ceramic trophy for a year made by local artist Samantha McEwan and engraved by craftsmen Phil Hill and Eddie Poole, of Phoenix Engraving.

Senior representatives from West Midlands Police are also expected to attend the ceremony.

The Mosley In Bloom team received a gold award for the second year running at the Heart of England in Bloom Awards last month.

The team was also judged overall winner in the Urban Communities category at a ceremony at Pershore Abbey and will go forward to represent the region in the national finals of Britain in Bloom next year.

In addition to the accolade, volunteers received a special Certificate of Merit award for their makeover of a derelict Bristol Street motors showroom on the corner of St Mary’s Row and Oxford Road.

The MIB awards will be held for invited guests at the Cross Bar, on Alcester Road, from 6pm tomorrow.
