Firefighters stop Handsworth shop blaze from spreading

QUICK-thinking fire crews were praised by their boss for stopping a blaze in a disused clothing shop in Soho Road from spreading to other shops yesterday.

Handsworth crews battled with the blaze, which happened at the ex-retail outlet opposite the Red Lion pub, for four hours.
